Have you played FIFA, NFL, NBA, or WWE lately? If you’re still reading this article, I assume you have. The real question is, how long have you been playing those games? I have been playing EA titles since 1997 and WWE since 2000 (WWF Wrestlemania, to be specific). From my experience, I can safely say that these games haven’t changed at all. I use WWE as an example. here, because they have failed to implement the formula that EA seems to have figured out.
Improve graphics, add a few players, update the rosters and you’re all set to make lots of money. WWE have had many incarnations of their games over the years, but for as long as they were releasing platform specific titles, they were improving game play as well. With Smackdown vs.1aw in 2007, they realized that they got their hands on a system that nobody seems to mind, and gave up trying to improve it any further. From there on, they kept tossing more wrestlers and gimmicks into their product (see if you can tell he difference between WWE 12 and 13, despite the Predator 2.0 technology). The actual garrle remains the same.
