Modern Gaming Graphics
Who doesn’t love photo realism? People have been trying to draw realistically since the time of cave drawings. So we must appreciate the fact that we are nearly there. Soon enough, real life will pale in comparison. Unfortunately, at some point in time, it became so important to have ultra-realistic graphics that it didn”t matter what the game did, as long as it looked pretty. It started with Doom 3, which was supposed to usher us gamers into a new era of graphics. Sadly, this was a game that had only 5 interesting levels out of the total 20 (don’t just take my word for it, browse through the countless forums if you haven’t played it yourself). Since then, it has become acceptable for video games to not even have decent game play, as long as they look ‘real’ enough.
