Freedom to incite

So here’s the thing. YouTube/Google can say “no” to anyone because corporations, especially ones the size of Google, are the new nation-states. They wield more power and influence than many other countries. This is very, very dangerous.
What’s more, the justification of “freedom of speech” really doesn’t cut it. Now take Monty Python’s “Life of Brian”as an example. First of all, Brian isn’t Jesus. Secondly, the film is made by white Europeans. Thirdly, there weren’t instances of Christians being oppressed on massive scales at the time that film was made. And lastly, it was a genuinely funny film that was really well-made, by one of the best troupes in the history of British comedy.
Then we have “Innocence of Muslims”. Produced by a Crystal-Meth manufacturer and supposedly directed and acted in by individuals from the porn industry. And very obviously made with the intent to incite anger from the world’s Muslim population. In the world where Muslims are being prosecuted in Palestine, Iraq and Afghanistan, Muslims will very obviously react badly.
When videos containing pornography and extreme violence, or even copyright infringements are not allowed on YouTube, shouldn’t videos like “Innocence of Muslims” also be banned? If enough people flag a video as inappropriate on the grounds that it incites hatred, the folks at YouTube should look into it and ban the video.
